About
‘Hooray! Flying High Music is finally here – it’s been a journey and a half but what a privilege!’
Meet the Flying High Music Team
Sheila and Phil Marsh have accumulated a wealth of knowledge, skill, experience and, most importantly, enthusiasm. They strongly believe in staying centred on the child or adult: their needs, their aspirations, their dreams. As highly experienced music teachers, they are experts at writing songbooks for schools, whilst exploring exciting new musical avenues and challenges. They are also specialists in song-writing for bespoke occasions and song-arranging for budding composers. Now they are proud to have launched their own company – Flying High Music.
Flying High Music encourages young and old alike to strive for and attain their musical goals and we are ready to soar!
Earlier Times
Sheila has been composing since she was knee-high – literally! Writing thematic music has always been her main interest but, as we all know, life can take us in unforeseen directions. As a student on placement in school, faced with a topic on Space, she composed her first song for junior children called, ‘We’re Flying High’. This song was the first of a considerable list of songs and works composed for schools and has been sung with gusto throughout her career.

Sheila and Phil Marsh
Fifty Years Combined Experience
Music has always been their passion. Sheila and Phil both studied music and taught in primary settings as classroom teachers and music specialists – State and Independent Schools. Their teaching careers culminated in Sheila becoming the Headmistress, and Phil, Head of Music, at Lady Barn House School, Cheshire. This is one of the largest and most successful, award-winning Independent schools in the North West.
Leading choirs, ensembles, producing shows and writing/teaching music has been an integral part of their lives. Sheila’s own repertoire of songs and musical plays has been highly acclaimed throughout her teaching career. Her work has been published by Golden Apple Publications.
‘There is much more to come and we hope that you will join
and support us as we continue our musical journey.’
